Welcome

Hospital Site). Established in 1950 by Dr. Benjamin Etsten,
 the
department maintains a prominent role within Tufts Medical
Center and Tufts University School of Medicine. The departmental mission
contains a strong commitment to excellence in clinical care,
postgraduate learning, and scholarly activities at all levels. The
department directs all clinical activities of the Main Operating Room
Suite, the Ambulatory Surgery Care Center, the Preoperative Assessment
Clinic, and the Post Anesthesia Care Units.

In The
Spotlight
SimMan Anesthesia Simulator:
SimMan is our new
portable and advanced patient simulator for team
training. SimMan has realistic anatomy and clinical
functionality. SimMan provides simulation-based
education to challenge and test residents’ clinical
and decision-making skills during realistic patient
care scenarios. SimMan includes well-proven software
and an interactive technologically advanced manikin
allowing learners to practice the emergency
treatment of patients. Manufactured by
Laerdal Medical, the simulator was recently
bought by our department.
